Diamond Sales
A tender process curated to maximise value
Once processed, our diamonds are cleaned, sorted by size and then quality and organised into parcels according to their shape, size, clarity and colour.
We sell our diamonds at regular tenders timed around specific calendar events and coordinated to fit with other regional diamond sales. We never mix our diamonds by mine. This provides buyers with an additional level of knowledge based upon each mine’s unique diamond characteristics, as well as their origin.
Diamond sales are typically weighted 40% FY H1 and 60% FY H2 due to the production cut-off in December around the festive season’s holidays.
Typical sales cycle
Our South African goods are cleaned, sorted and sold in South Africa and those from our Tanzanian mine, Williamson, at tenders in Antwerp.
Tenders last between four to six working days, during which participants view the assortments and place a confidential electronic bid on the parcel of their choice.
At the end of the tender, the highest bidder wins the parcel. If a bid doesn’t reach our internal reserve, we may hold back that parcel or stone for a future sale. We also, occasionally, partner on a stone, sharing in any profit generated from the additional value created through cutting and polishing.
